Helambu Trek is a short, low-altitude trek that begins from Shivapuri National Park and goes through picturesque remote villages. You will pass by lush forests, crossing streams, and thrilling bridges. And the highest point of the trek is Tharepati Pass, situated at 3,650 meters.

Along the way, you’ll get the stunning views of Ganesh Himal (7,422 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Dorje Lhakpa (6,966 m), Mt. Gauri Shankar(7,134 m), and many snow-clustered mountains. 

The villagers along the trail are friendly and welcoming. You will get to see the culture and tradition of Sherpas and people from other communities, including the indigenous Hyolmos. There are many Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, shrines, and stupas along the way.

Best Time for Helambu Trek

March to May (spring) and October to November (autumn) is the best time to do Helambu Trek. The stable weather and moderate climate make the walk pleasant. Likewise, the views are stunning and different floras decorate the trail in spring. While trekking in autumn, you can see some of the biggest festivals of Nepal.

The best thing about the Helambu trek is the trail is not crowded even in the peak trekking seasons. Therefore, you can have the trail and the gorgeous views to yourself. The temperature ranges from 5°C to 18°C. The lower elevation is on the hot and humid side than the higher elevation, which is mostly cold. You will need a thin warm layer in the mornings and nights.

Trekking in other seasons, summer, monsoon, and winter in the Helambu region is not recommended because of unstable weather, bad views, and a slippery trail.

This trekking region is a well-cultivating area they grow lots of organic crops & vegetables in their own farm & Garden. They provide organic hygienic meals and the lodges are well managed. They have comfortable neat and clean beds as well as warm hospitality.

Required Documents

Trekking Infromation Management System(TIMS) card and Langtang National Park entry Permit are the two essential permits for Helambu Trekking area.
