Founder Led Trekking

Gurkha Expeditions is led by Prem Tamang, a professional trekking guide who has worked in Nepal’s Himalayas since 1997.

Between 2001 and 2019, he guided and supported British Military trekking teams across Nepal. That period shaped a practical, safety-first approach to route planning, pacing, and decision-making in remote terrain.

Today, that same approach defines how Gurkha Expeditions operate, from how itineraries are built to how days are paced and decisions are made on the trail.

This is what that means in practice:

  • Founder-led guiding backed by over 25 years of hands-on trekking experience
  • British Military trekking background (2001–2019), influencing safety and preparation standards
  • Extensive experience in restricted regions most agencies cannot handle
  • Realistic pacing and altitude-aware itineraries
  • Small groups with unrushed schedules and culturally grounded routes
